Online simultaneous delivery classes require a little more advanced skills for two-way interaction between teachers and students, and discussions between students at the same time between students in the classroom and students taking remote classes.
Here are some tips for students to actively participate in classes.
Even if classes are not delivered online at the same time, students will actively participate in classes while taking measures against infection, and "new face-to-face classes" will be conducted using ICT, which was not possible in face-to-face classes so far. We would appreciate it if you could use it as a reference.
(1) Utilize the questionnaire system
For example, Google Forms, Microsoft Forms. By using these tools, you can collect real-time opinions from students and conduct simple quizzes. Create a question with these services in advance and give the student the URL to this question in class.
For students who take classes remotely or who have a PC, teachers can send the URL via chat with kibaco or Zoom, and the students will be able to answer on the spot.
Even students who do not have a PC in the classroom can answer immediately with their smartphone etc. by presenting it with a QR code.
Answers are automatically aggregated on these services, so teachers can show them to students for real-time feedback.
Also, since the answers are recorded as data, it is possible to use this for other purposes.
Many students who took online classes in 2020 also said that chatting made it easier for them to ask questions. By using a questionnaire system, it is possible to incorporate some of these effects into face-to-face classes.
(2) Exchange opinions and discuss using cloud services
With these services, students can create files and make workspaces for collaborative editing in advance and telling the URL etc. to the students.
Some services, such as Google Docs, allow you to collaborate without logging in, while others, such as Scrapbox and Slack, need you login and editing privileges.
Simultaneous editing can be done "during class" or asynchronous editing can be done "out of class time".
It is considered standard for students in the classroom to operate with a smartphone or PC, and for remote students to operate with a PC.
One idea is that students' learning activities are mainly outside of class hours, and in class, teachers concentrate on giving lectures and facilitation.
Since information such as group work and discussions is recorded as data, teachers can know about student learning activities that could not be grasped in detail in conventional face-to-face lessons.
.
(3) Form a group in the classroom and remotely
If students in the classroom and remote students coexist in group work, work like method (2) is required, but if there are many students taking remote classes when doing group work, It may be possible to form a group only for students in the classroom or only for remote students.
In that case, remote students can do group work through Zoom breakout sessions, similar to online classes.
